About the Studio
Troels Øder Hansen is a Copenhagen-based design studio working across furniture, product, and spatial design. The practice combines concept-driven development with hands-on making — always aiming for solutions that are clear, durable, and expressive.
At the heart of the studio’s work is a balance between material sensitivity, functional complexity, and contextual awareness. From the smallest detail to the overall spatial experience, each element is designed with care and precision.
The studio develops designs across a range of scales and environments, including:
Modular and series-based furniture collections
Custom interiors for retail, hospitality, museums, and cultural institutions
Urban furniture and spatial systems that activate and improve public space
Every project begins with a deep understanding of the brief and context — developed through models, drawings, workshops, and 3D visuals. The process continues through detailed design, material research, prototyping, and full production documentation.
Simplicity through precision — refined down to the millimeter
Modular thinking — systems that scale, adapt, and evolve
Minimal material use — intentional, sustainable construction
Holistic design — every element supports a larger narrative
Craft meets context — production-savvy solutions with conceptual clarity
The visual identity is shaped by a background rooted in Scandinavian modernism and influenced by street culture, industrial design, and systems thinking — resulting in a bold, modular language that’s made to be used.
The studio’s current direction explores:
Design for disassembly and circular use
Flat-packable, knock-down construction
Furniture systems with classic roots and contemporary detail
Public space design that enhances shared environments
The studio works in close dialogue with clients, collaborators, and manufacturers. Whether for established brands or custom commissions, the process is open, iterative, and tailored to the needs of each project.
The goal is always the same:
To create design that holds space — physically, emotionally, and culturally.
